When it comes to lip filler, there’s a lot of misinformation out there — especially online. At Be Beautiful Medical, we believe in education and transparency so you can make informed, confident decisions about your treatment.
In this post, we’re addressing three of the most common lip filler myths:
- Can I get a half syringe?
- Can I just treat my upper lip?
- Will my lips deflate if I stop getting filler?
Let’s take a closer look at each one.
Can I get a half syringe?
This is one of the most frequently asked questions we receive. Patients usually ask for a half syringe because they’re looking for a subtle result or because they’ve seen other clinics offering it at a lower price.
We understand where this request comes from, but at Be Beautiful Medical, we do not offer half syringes — and there’s a reason for that.
We do not split or decant syringes.
Hyaluronic acid filler is a sterile, single-use medical device. Once opened, the entire syringe is intended for use on one patient, during one treatment session. Splitting or saving the product for later is not considered safe practice. It increases the risk of contamination and infection and goes against manufacturer and regulatory guidelines.
We also never “share” syringes between patients. This may seem like a cost-saving measure, but it compromises safety — and safety is non-negotiable in our clinic.
You’re paying for expertise, not just product.
Many people assume filler pricing is based on how much product is used. In reality, most of what you’re paying for is the experience, clinical judgment, and technique of your injector. Your results depend on how the filler is placed — not just how much is used.
If you’re looking for a subtle result, we’re happy to take a conservative approach with a full syringe. But we won’t compromise on safety to achieve it.
Can you just treat my upper lip?
Some patients ask to treat only the upper lip, either to correct asymmetry or because they’re hoping for a slightly fuller top lip. However, in most cases, we do not recommend treating just the top lip on its own.
Treating the upper lip without balancing the lower lip often results in:
- An unnatural or “shelf-like” appearance
- Disrupted proportion between the top and bottom lips
- Asymmetry in the face or profile
While there are rare exceptions, lips are generally best treated as a unit. We always assess the full face to ensure your results are soft, balanced, and in harmony with your natural features.
Will my lips deflate if I stop getting filler?
This is a very common concern — and the good news is: no, your lips will not deflate if you stop.
Lip filler is made of hyaluronic acid, which is gradually broken down and absorbed by your body over time. If you choose not to maintain your filler, your lips will slowly return to their natural shape.
They may appear smaller, but that’s not because they’ve “deflated” — it’s because you’ve become used to the fuller look. When done correctly, filler does not stretch or damage the lips.
If your lips have been overfilled or layered repeatedly, they may need some time to settle. But your natural lips remain intact.
